Everest Band Nepal, which was established six months ago gave a musical concert at the Nepal Tourism Board, Bhrikutimandap on Tuesday to support youth scientist Rijan Karki who is set to attend the international conference of soils, sediments and water energy in the United States of America.
The band has five members in the frontline- Durga Prasad Khatiwada in basuri, Achyutram Bhandari in tabala, Dhurba Upreti in effects, Barta Gandharba in sarangi and Sibha Bhadur Sonam in saxophone.
During the concert the band performed mediation tunes, Nepali jazz, classical music, and folk tunes. The event was graced by Indra Prasad Dhungel, minister of state for science and technology, CPN-UML leader Bamdev Gautam and Ex-Army officer chief Rukmangad Katuwal.
Renowned German jazz saxophonist Rainer Pusch who was present at the event said, “ I enjoyed the performance thoroughly and would love to colaborate with the artists.” The band will also be performing in Pokhara next month and is set to tour various nations in support of the Nepal Tourism Year 2011.
